Q. Is my gift card the same as a credit card?

A. No, your card is not a credit card. You may only spend the amount available on the card. 

Q. Is my gift card like a debit card?

A. Yes and no. Like a debit card, you may only spend the funds available. However, unlike a debit card, you do not have a bank account associated with the card. 

Q. How do I activate my gift card?

A. Gift cards do not have to be activated prior to use. However, in order to preserve certain rights set forth in the Terms and Conditions disclosure, we highly recommend you register your gift card at www.ucbbucks.com. If you do not have Internet access, you may register by calling 866-279-4545, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 

Q. Where can I use my gift card?

A. You can use your gift card for purchases anywhere Visa is accepted. 

Q. Can I make purchases online with my gift card?

A. Yes, you can make online purchases with your card up to the available value of the card. Enter your card number, expiration date and any other information requested by online merchant. 

Q. How do I know what I have spent, or have available?

A. Make sure that you record the amount of your card and deduct each purchase. You may also check your balance anytime by calling the number on the back of your card (866-279-4545). 

Q. Is my gift card reloadable?

A. No. You cannot add funds to your gift card.  

Q. Can I use my gift card to buy a money order?

A. Yes. Businesses that provide these types of services generally accept Visa. 

Q. What do I do if I have a question or problem relating to the gift card?

A. Call the number on the back of your card (866-279-4545) 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Follow the recorded instructions. You can also speak with a customer service representative. 

Q. Will I get charged a fee for using my gift card at participating merchants?

A. No, you will not be charged a fee for making a purchase at participating merchants. 

Q. Can I use my gift card to make a purchase that is larger than the balance on my card?

A. No. Since the gift card is not a credit card, you are not able to access more than the balance available on your card. If a merchant tries to process your transaction for a dollar amount higher than you have available, the transaction will be declined. If the merchant processes all or part of your transaction for the exact amount on your gift card, it will be accepted and you will be able to pay the difference. For example, if your purchase total is $45 but you only have $25 available on the card. Tell the cashier you have a VISA gift card with $25 available. The cashier will process it for the specific amount, it will approve the transaction, and you may then pay the balance of $20. 

Q. How can I track my spending and check the available balance on my gift card?

A. You may track your spending in either of the following ways:

  • Call the number on the back of your card toll free anytime (866-279-4545)
  • Log into the Account Balance page at www.ucbbucks.com anytime

Q. Can I use my gift card to withdraw cash or check my balance on an ATM?

A. No. Gift cards do not have ATM access. 

Q. May I let someone else use my gift card?
A. No. Keep your card, and the card account number, under your control at all times. 

Q. Can my gift card be replaced if it is lost or stolen?

A. If your gift card is lost or stolen, the unused portion of the card can be reissued on a new card for a $5.00 replacement card fee. 

Q. Does my gift card expire?

A. Yes. Your gift card will expire on the date shown on the face of the card. However, if funds remain on your card at its expiration, you may request a free replacement card for any unused funds within 30 days of the expiration date.

Q. Is there a fee if I do not use my gift card?

A. Yes. After twelve (12) consecutive months of non-usage, you will be charged a monthly dormancy fee. Please refer to your terms and conditions for the schedule of fees and charges.
